The Keys mean color, and color is what Kerri and Scot wanted in their dream destination wedding. Held on the beautiful beaches of Fort Zachary Taylor and celebrated within the historic grounds of Ernest Hemingway’s former home, these two went all out for fun.
Nestled in Old Town Key West, they enjoyed the amenities of a popular B&B, The Lighthouse (with a literal view of our lighthouse just outside the window!). An intimate rehearsal dinner for 20 was held nearby at Grunts, a local favorite near all of downtown’s attractions but without all the glitz and noise.
Kerri and Scot’s wedding day kicked off with a visit to Kerri’s suite by the pros from Studio Marie-Pierre, one of the premiere hair and makeup designers in South Florida. Meanwhile, delivery of personal flowers from Milan Event was taken with bouquets of green hydrangea for the bridesmaids (and white hydrangea for Kerri), pale pink garden roses, white callas and orchids, succulents and more, rounding out a playful, and colorful, arrangement for every woman in the bridal party.
Lona of Blueye Images was on hand to capture the day’s events, including a First Look that is so full of vibrant imagery. Shocking blues, tropical greens, pulsing pinks and reds and more emanate from every photo she took of Kerri and Scot’s perfect wedding.
Key West’s famous Conch Tour Train and Old Town Trolley brought guests to Fort Zachary Taylor, a local treasure for its historic fort and clean, natural beaches with an unbeatable sunset exposure. Milan Event arranged a brilliant modern design with a bamboo arch under organza and decorated with a ruscus garland, white orchid and pink lily accents.
In the evening at Hemingway’s house, guests were treated to hors d’oeuvres by Great Events, a gourmet selection of roasted thin corn cakes with barbecue shrimp, portabella and goat cheese stuffed profiteroles, burrata cheese served on a salted wonton, and lobster and grilled corn quesadillas.
Dinner commenced with a refreshing salad selection of Cuban style with plantain chips, avocados and mango poppy seed vinaigrette, or arugula with feta cheese and mojito vinaigrette. This was followed by Great Events’ EVO grill; 5-ounce lobster tails with drawn butter, grilled barbecue chicken, blackened and grilled mahi mahi with mango tropical salsa, steamed clams in broth and fresh herbs, and Old Bay shrimp with chorizo and boiled corn.
Kerri and Scot’s cake was also a gourmet delight from from Cakes by Karol. Along with 200 individual desserts like Key Lime tarts, salted caramel tarts, Key Lime cupcakes and banana créme shooters, they enjoyed a cake of their own in Key Lime with raspberry filling under vanilla butter cream.
You can see for yourself it was a festive occasion just bursting with color. Kerry and Scot made the most of their destination and the choices it offered, and it was an absolute blast.
