Do what makes you smile. This is an attitude that was taken to heart by Kim and Matt as they set out on their Florida Keys destination wedding. Everything was engineered to get that response at every turn. And as you’ll see in our gallery by Dennis Drenner below, this wedding was a raving success in the smile department.
There ceremony was set at the beautiful San Pedro Church in Tavernier, one of several truly gorgeous churches throughout the Keys. With its Spanish-Cuban architectural influence, brightly colored stained glass and the backdrop of golden stonework behind the altar, it was a glorious setting for Kim and Matt’s wedding.
Floral arrangements and décor were created by Avant-Gardens, with the Groom and his men showcasing double orange ranunculus with silver brunia, while the Bride bore the pinnacle of floral beauty in her bouquet of clustered lime green hydrangea, peach and pink garden roses, orange protea, lambs ear and orange ranunculus amongst succulents and silver brunia.
Kim and Matt glammed it up after the ceremony in a stretch Hummer Limo for twenty, riding in style to the luxurious Marriott Key Largo. After that, a brief photo session with Dennis Drenner and Ever Clear’s videographers gave the happy couple a chance to capture those smiles in time to inspire future joys. The cocktail reception commenced at Gus Marina where musician Chris Thomas played a relaxing set for guests enjoying mojitos and more, along with shrimp skewered on a sugar cane kabob, miniature Cuban Panini, sea scallops wrapped with smoked bacon, Ahi tuna on a wonton crisp and beef tenderloin and boursin on a crostini. These are classic combinations in the Keys that have stood the test of time for their juiciness, their traditional Cuban influence and the fact that they just make people happy.
Dinner was set amongst six tables where guests enjoyed lush centerpieces with leaf wrap, green hydrangea and florals matching Kim’s splendid bouquet set in cylinders, along with LED pillar candle lighting at each table and lima candle holders. But it was a delicious course of filet mignon with demi glace and her crusted mahi mahi that drew their attention next, in addition to Key Lime butter sauce and baby carrots, asparagus, mashed potatoes and tomato parmesan. And what wedding would be complete without the cake cutting? For this event Kim and Matt tucked into a 3-tier masterpiece by Filled & Frosted, with a champagne cake base with fresh strawberries, layered next with banana cake and salted caramel filling, and topped by a macadamia cake with white chocolate ganache within, all under buttercream frosting in mint with orange sugar peonies. It was surely an event that gave new meaning to “painted on smiles”.
From what we saw that day and from the photos below, we’re certain Kim and Matt loved their wedding day. There were smiles all around, and we have to say, that makes us smile, too. Keep smiling, you two.
