What happens when elegance and the organic are brought together? Bright, flowing colors, appealing textures and a mating of the theme with the overall setting are the inevitable result of this discerning combination. For Samantha and Scott this was the zenith of their smashing wedding day affair.
In the early afternoon of a beautiful Key West day, Samantha and her bridesmaids were attended to by Lorri Bolander. She donned a flowing dress of vibrant fuschia and purple, a tropical statement that drew the eye. She was further complemented by brilliant arrangements from Milan Event Florals. Their watermelon peonies with fresh green hydrangea accents comprised the Bride’s bouquet, as well as hot pink spray roses for the gentlemen of the wedding party, and white cymbidium orchids with berry accents set apart the proud parents.
Christy Transier was on-hand to capture the striking images of the day’s events at the grand Casa Marina Resort, and not least of all the anticipated First Look session with Samantha and Scott. Elsewhere, final preparations were underway to set the scene for the evening’s festivities. Bay King’s Band would create the sound of the day with their smooth rhythms. Our own Julie Shreck saw to every last detail, including the Grand Ballroom where ten tables awaited happy guests, adorned with poppy shantungs and black phantom overlays, and centerpieces of white dutch and green hydrangea, pink and watermelon peonies, pale pink spray and watermelon roses, all set in pewter vases amongst dozens of jewel votives. The continuity of the organic theme was tied together.
On the beach, over 100 guests eagerly awaited Samantha and Scott’s nuptials before a tall, white-clad Chuppah set upon a platform with white organza drapes and the omnipresent hot pink hydrangea, peonies and roses. As Bay King’s Band struck up the music, Michael Kamon commenced this ceremony in all its natural splendor to the joy of everyone present. What better place to celebrate this auspicious day than on a sunny afternoon in warm, tropical Key West surrounded by color and brilliance, smartly woven together in a truly organic fashion that spells “elegance”.
At the cocktail reception, guests refreshed themselves with sweet watermelon drop, goat cheese and micro greens with balsamic, as well as lobster bites with mango curry sauce, barbecue chicken empanadas in chipotle, and miniature crab cakes with caper remoulade. Not to be outdone, dinner came on with two delectable entrees – a lemon and garlic glazed chicken with asparagus and saffron risotto, and a lightly blackened grouper with mango salsa and pomegranate reduction, with roasted sweet potatoes and haricot vert. And, of course, the cake was a work of art. This treat from Key West Cakes was a 3-tier round, simple yet elegant with layers of coconut with key lime mousse filling, white cake with ganache, and chocolate cake with raspberry, all in a white fondant and decorated in (you guessed it) fondant flowers in watermelon pink.
Samantha and Scott, congratulations on a day that will stand out in the memories of all who were there. We hope you’ll experience many more days of truly organic elegance, the kind that nature designed for couples like you.
